Doctor/Surgery

Surgery in Ireland means Doctor’s office! You’ll notice a surgery sign on many houses that look like private residences. In Ireland the standard practice is for individuals or families to see a General Practitioner for all medical situations other than emergencies, dental and eye care. Children would see the GP not a paediatrician for most situations. A paediatrician may be recommended if the GP feels it’s warranted. GP visits are about £20 and a specialist visit costs start about £40.
