About Nippon Electric Glass
We are the UK’s largest manufacture of specialist glass fiber for use in a wide range of industries. Our products are at the very heart of the off-shore Wind Energy initiative, and critical to the light-weighting of vehicles to support electrification to reduce carbon emissions.
Part of the Nippon Electric Glass global empire, NEG Wigan is enjoying one of the most successful periods in our history. We are a people business, and we value our people greatly. We live and breathe our company values, and our "One Team" culture is delivering our best ever safety performance, year-on-year quality improvements, and our best Plant Yield performance for many years. All of these results are thanks to our positive, inclusive, caring culture developing a working environment that works for all our teammates. It’s a pleasure to be part of "Team Wigan."
Our products have never been in greater demand. Indeed, we are already sold out until the end of 2022, with our customers wanting more products than we can physically make, despite us working 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Therefore, offering you a long-term placement with us.
Our operatives work 3-days one week, 4-days the next, then follow the same pattern on night shift for two weeks. They earn £27.5k per annum including shift allowance. With overtime being a regular feature of our business, many operators increase their annual earnings up to £40k. As well as a great remuneration package, you will receive 20 shifts annual leave along with rostered days off, Manpower pension scheme, free parking, free on-site gym and the opportunity to join wellness and social events throughout the year.
We are very proud that our Manpower employees are fully integrated into our team. To us, there is no difference between our contract staff and our NEG permanent staff. Remuneration, workwear, overtime working, and training and development opportunities are all consistent - we are "One Team." We are also very proud to have made 90 contract operatives into permanent members of the NEG team over the last five years, with many of these people progressing on into Cell Leader, Team Leader, Supervisor and Technician roles, with NEG funding their further education.
