Our Client delivers safe, efficient, productive and more comfortable transportation experiences for manufacturers, airlines, business and general aviation aircraft, military and airports through three divisions; Air Transport and Regional, Business and General Aviation and Defence and Space.

We are looking for a Manufacturing Engineering, located in Waterford, to be responsible for supporting production requirements, whilst also providing support to existing manufacturing engineers within the Engineering function. The business in Waterford designs and manufactures blades and vanes which are part of the overall aircraft engine. This position reports to the Manufacturing Engineering Leader.

The successful candidate will have the ability to recognize operational opportunities and support critical business needs, understand organizational dynamics, and possess exceptional technical and interpersonal skills, it is very much a hands-on role.


Responsibilities:
*Analyse part & process inspection data and make necessary process changes for future production runs to improve & sustain mainly (but not limited to) CNC multi axes machining processes capability.
*Support as required process based activity on new product development (NPD) initiatives.
*Carryout daily engineering checks as required & perform routine engineering based inspections to help sustain & improve overall equipment effectiveness (OEE)
*Perform project management, design, development and evaluation of engineering projects, offering innovative solutions to technical problems.
*Perform analysis and identification of capital equipment needs to address gaps in capacity, including financial justification, process management and installation.
*Liaise with suppliers on the design and manufacture of relevant equipment, tooling and fixtures ensuring actual design and performance are well defined and within scope.
*Drive continuous improvement activities in the value stream including unit cost management, quality measures and productivity plus help drive the deployment & implementation of the Honeywell Operating System.

Skills & Experience:
*A strong background in CAD / CAM multi axes CNC experience in tight tolerance machining is essential.
*Ability to manage projects and changing priorities; make sound decisions under pressure, and work effectively in a team environment.
*Proficient time management skills with the ability to close initiatives & actions on time and within budget.
*Ability to deal confidently with internal and external customers and suppliers at all levels of the organisation.
*The successful candidate will exhibit a can do, proactive attitude with a demonstrated work-ethic and drive & should also possess excellent problem solving abilities.
*Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
*Strong ability to be proactive and must be result orientated.

Education:
*3rd level Engineering/Technology qualification is essential.
*Proven demonstrated experience of working with Computer Numerical Control (CNC) processes.
*Knowledge of CAD / CAM packages an advantage (i.e. AutoCAD, Solid Works, Catia, NX).
*Six Sigma Green Belt or other Lean Manufacturing Qualifications a distinct advantage.
