The Central Technical Organisation (CTO) of our clients Nuclear Generation business provides technical engineering and project services to all off their 8 Nuclear power stations. There is a requirement for individuals to help the business in its delivery of this complex portfolio of engineering works in terms of provision of 'project support' to those managing packages of work, and provision of management information to support the decision making processes (Project Support Officer).

In addition to the provision of a standard PSO, there is a business requirement for a Senior PSO (Technical) who will provide in depth knowledge and expertise in the relevant processes and systems and support the Work Management (WM) Group, for example, with centrally led activities.

As well as standard PSO support, the individual will also provide support to enhance the value provided by the WM Group and the Team Lead in the following areas:

Responsibilities but not limited to:

  • Data analysis & preparation of reports and presentations in relation to the data
  • Champion of ENG/DA work management processes
  • Provides specialist input to specific work areas
  • Coordination of activities to support WM group as a whole
  • Act as an advocate of CTO Services and the WM Group both inside and outside the team, promoting changes and improvements (innovation and problem solving)
  • Operate with a challenging & questioning attitude - challenge others to do the right thing and ask 'why do we do it this way?'
  • Provision of support to multiple parts of the business if required
  • Collaborate across both work streams - Technical and Operational

Experience

  • Must have at least 2 years experience at the level of Practitioner PSO
  • Good experience of Microsoft Office software in general; in particular, strong MS Excel skills for reporting and analysis.
  • Strong numerical skills, able to interrogate, analyse and report data.
  • In depth knowledge of the processes and tools used by the business in support of its work management
  • Provision of guidance and advice about financial and contract management to help improve budget control and commercial awareness
  • Provision of high quality proactive support to others
  • Provides specialist input to specific work areas
  • Co-ordination / facilitation of activities across the Work Management group
  • Can provide evidence of challenge in workshops, value given in improvement projects and collaboration with other interfacing teams to improve processes.
  • Drives value & efficiency and can articulate examples made
