Project Engineer
SF32928
Location: Filton, Bristol, GB, BS31 2YH
Salary: £36,525 - £40,995

About the role
We're looking for a Project Engineer within the Submarines business unit to join us at HMNB Devonport, one of the largest naval bases in Western Europe. We're a key strategic partner to our customers; the MOD and the Royal Navy. We ensure that the UK Royal Navy goes to sea safely by supporting them in Devonport and around the world, delivering complex ship and submarine sustainment programmes and applying our core strengths of technology and expertise to sustain critical and complex assets to help maintain national security.

Have you ever considered how the components, systems and interfaces are managed through operational life in the most complex man-made engineering asset in use by the Royal Navy today? Here at Babcock International we're looking to recruit a talented and meticulous Project Engineer with a strong Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) background to join our Technical Team at Abbey Wood in Filton.

As a Project Engineer you'll be responsible for the management of submarine work packages, through the Rolling Design Authority Requirement (RDAR) database and will act as the point of contact for the allocated work package. You'll will work closely with Royal Naval personnel, design, equipment authorities and Naval Bases within the MoD and the wider community to support the management of the submarine work packages and will be responsible for presenting their outputs to the customer and wider stakeholder community in a clear, concise and effective manner.

This is an opportunity for an ambitious candidate to join a team of likeminded Engineers with unrivalled engineering and technical skills and to gain a broad range of experience in a FTSE250 company leading the delivery of In-Service Support to a variety of Nations and Naval Vessels across the world. In addition, we will provide you with all the training, support and benefits that you would expect from a global company.

What do I need to do the role?
You'll hold a Foundation Degree in a relevant STEM discipline or be qualified to HND / BTEC Level 5 in a relevant STEM discipline with significant experience in a relevant engineering field. You'll also be an incorporated Engineer, or working towards registration with an appropriate engineering institution.

We would also like you to have the following:
*Proficient in the use of appropriate Project Management and Microsoft tools
*Experience of Royal Navy submarines from a design, maintenance or operational perspective.
*Experience in a Dockyard or Airfield.
*Experience of Maintenance methodology.

Lastly, you'll be an excellent communicator, able to challenge the status quo and communicate recommendations effectively. You'll also have the ability to manage and deliver a number of tasks on time, within budget and meeting customer quality standards.

What else do I need to know?
*The successful candidate will need to satisfy Ministry of Defence security requirements. You must be a sole UK national and hold or be capable of achieving 'Security Check' (SC) clearance.
*The post may be based in an environment regulated by Trade Control legislation and involve working with controlled goods, technology and/or services. This may require you to meet enhanced security and regular screening checks.
