Material Planner.

Warwickshire (M40 corridor).

6 month fixed term contract.

As one of the most prestigious brands in the world, my client is a manufacturer of high-end vehicles and has a British heritage spanning over a century. With their headquarters in Warwickshire, their iconic range of vehicles are the dreams of many and sold from 160 dealerships in 53 countries.

With a new leadership team and strategic expansion plans, this is truly an exciting time to join them. Due to steady, consistent growth, a number of contract opportunities have now become available for Material Planners to join them. Does this sound like the type of company that can offer you an exciting next step of your career?

In your new role, you will be responsible for scheduling and controlling the supply of components and materials to meet immediate production requirements and forwarding production programmes, consistent with attending target stock levels.

Taking ownership of all factors that affect availability of use for all parts under your control, the key responsibilities are as follows:

  • Assuring supply of materials to meet the production schedule and minimum safety stock levels.
  • Understanding and managing risks to the material supply plan to minimise impact on the production schedule.
  • Taking the lead in co-ordinating the implementation of modifications with the supply base to minimise obsolete stock and assure material availability.
  • Initiating inventory management and stock adjustments, when required, to maintain continued accuracy and reliability of stock records.
  • Acting as a key liaison with the logistics provider and Inventory Analysis team, to ensure inventory record accuracy.
  • Developing supplier relationships to allow constructive discussions to take place regarding delivery of KPI improvements, on behalf of the business.
  • Leading and coordinating improvement plans with suppliers that are not performing.
  • Negotiating with supplier, the finance for 'special transport' to ensure costs are kept to a minimum.
  • Recovering all costs that are incurred as a result of supplier liability.
  • Assisting Accounts department in resolution of quality / receipt related invoice queries.

In an ideal world, my client would love to hear from people who possess a background in Material or Logistics planning; ideally within the automotive industry. An awareness of lean manufacturing would also be advantageous.

Regardless of your previous career, you will have the ability to communicate with tact and diplomacy, together with the ability to work accurately and efficiently, taking resourceful action, when under pressure.

In return, the company are offering an excellent salary and remuneration package. The roles are for fixed, six months contracts, with no guarantee of a permanent role at the end of the contract period.

The company are easily accessible from Gaydon, Warwick, Coventry, Birmingham, Banbury and the surrounding areas and the area offers sensibly priced accommodation and a variety of lifestyle options to suite every taste.
