Location: Ireland - Dublin 12 - Hybrid- 2 days in office
Job type: Full time - Permanent
Salary: €65,000 - €75,000

Job Role:

  • Reporting to the Underwriting Change Manager, take the Product Owner role in new underwriting initiatives and IT projects
  • Contribute to business case development and cost benefit analysis on initiatives to be brought forward for approval
  • Translate business cases into clear project requirements, epics and user stories with responsibility for sign off
  • Develop business requirements by displaying a thorough understanding of the business needs whilst also ensuring changes adhere to the confines of our compliance and governance frameworks
  • Work with the Underwriting product managers and other functions to create and maintain a project backlog and produce a prioritised list of clear and concise user stories with acceptance criteria from the developed business requirements
  • Act as the product owner representing the business on an IT Agile Scrum team and ensure the product owner responsibilities in Scrum are completed including defining user stories and prioritising the team backlog of work
  • Work closely with the IT Agile Scrum team during the refinement and implementation of user stories providing input, advice and clarifications when needed
  • Ensure the IT Agile Scrum team has a clear understanding of what they are developing and the technical and business value it delivers to the customer

 

Criteria

  • 3 years' Business Analysis or Product Owner experience working within the Financial Services Sector (General Insurance experience an advantage)
  • A certified Product Owner qualification (CSPO, PSPO, etc.) would be an advantage or experience working within an agile framework (Scrum, Kanban, Lean, XP, etc.)
  • A certified project management qualification (PMP, PMI, etc..) would be an advantage or knowledge of project management disciplines (PMI, Prince2 or other)

  • Strong documentation skills, including gathering and documenting requirements, end user documentation and technical specification updates and evaluating the business implications
  • Ability to convert business deliverables into themes, epics and user stories
  • Ability to prioritise items in the backlog for delivery and effectively communicating to all stakeholders
  • Strong analytical, investigative and problem solving skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work on your own initiative in order to meet personal and departmental targets
  • Ability to successfully work across all levels of the organisation and manage relationships with other business units.
  • Ability to work under pressure, handle complex change and prioritise key activities
  • Excellent teamwork skills
  • Strong facilitation, presentation and negotiation skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills together with an approach that encourages open discussion and collaborative resolution to challenges
