Customer Operations Clerk - Wickford, Essex

Manpower Supply Chain Recruitment is pleased to announce that we now have a fantastic opportunity for somebody logistically minded who loves a busy and varied role within transport operations and planning! The purpose of the role is to support the smooth running of our clients' operations and route planning efforts. Reporting to the Customer Operations Manager, the successful candidate will work closely with cross functional teams including sales, production, technical and finance, to ensure the business continually meets its customer needs and requirements. Our client is a privately-owned global organisation specialising in the formulation, manufacture, and global distribution of fuel and lubricant additives, base oils, marker dyes, and speciality products for the oil industry. They offer an extensive portfolio of products to meet the needs of international oil groups, fuel storage, supply terminals, fuel blenders, lubricant manufacturers, and fuel wholesalers worldwide.

Location - Wickford, Essex

Hours: 08:30 to 16:30 Monday to Friday - 1 hour lunch (unpaid)

Contract type: Permanent contract

Salary: £26,000 - £28,000 per year depending on experience - Additional benefits/discretionary bonus included:

Key responsibilities include:

  • To monitor and maintain stock levels of various locations
  • Arrange stock deliveries for the fuel terminals
  • Check and process all orders received in a timely manner
  • Complete all invoices within 3 days of delivery
  • Liaising with Production staff to monitor Manufacturing orders
  • Ensure all documentation and systems are always kept up to date
  • Responsible for meeting individual and business targets within the agreed timeframes
  • Perform other related tasks as requested
  • Planning, organising and co-ordinating transport activities
  • Build and maintain a scheduling programme
  • Verifying/checking drivers activity/truck position
  • Communicating with colleagues and 3rd parties via telephone and email
  • Preparation and distribution of documentation (import and export)
  • General data base processing
  • Collating Proof of Delivery (PODs)
  • Responsible for meeting individual and business targets
  • Review and process orders received in a timely manner
  • Complete all invoices within a maximum of 3 days of delivery, including produce invoices and sending to customers after delivery
  • Liaise with Production staff to monitor manufacturing orders
  • Process basic customs paperwork and liaise with customs agent for import and export
  • Perform other related tasks as requested.

The ideal Candidate will have:

  • English and Maths GCSE Grade C or equivalent
  • Experience of using a CRM system
  • Knowledge of Custom and Excise procedures including export declarations
  • Previous logistics experience in a planning/operations role (1-2 years preferred)
  • Strong attention to detail
  • The ability to work without supervision
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external parties
  • Calm under pressure
  • Excellent IT skills with Microsoft Office
  • Outstanding organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks
  • Customer focused and proactive
  • Well organised and methodical with the ability to work within set time frames
  • Ability to multitask and prioritise throughout the day to support daily truck deliveries to various locations
  • Ability to work on your own initiative and within a team, as well as various other in-house departments
  • Friendly and approachable
  • Energetic with a positive outlook to a fast paced and changeable environment

Salary and Benefits:
