Concept CAD Designer

Summary

Job Purpose:

Vehicle Layout/Package/Design Feasibility Progression

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop Interior and Exterior Styling surface feasibility through construction of technical 2D sections and 3D concept schemes.
  • Collaborate within Teams to develop concept CAD cross functionally.
  • Support Vehicle design development by resolving engineering incompatibilities and finding solutions to them and/or selecting methods which can clearly articulate alternative proposals.
  • Analyze Vehicle design against standards, targets and Hardpoints.
  • Work with the Programme, VAM and Design teams, supporting the layout and development of unique systems and new technologies.
  • Support development of Macro Issues list enabling design progression.
  • Support development of digital bucks with target / hardpoint data.
  • Support development of physical properties with target / hardpoint data.
  • Support Concept Manager and Vehicle Engineering team to ensure the vehicle design assumptions balance with the attributes.
  • The post holder will undertake other duties as may be required to achieve the Company's objectives, commensurate with the grading of the post.

Qualification & Experience:

  • CAD literate - Siemens NX.
  • Teamcenter and Vis-Mockup Advanced User.
  • Experience in concept layout, including mechanical layout and/or occupant package.
  • Worked in a cross functional role in Automotive.
  • Working knowledge of vehicle attributes.
  • Ability to use MS Tools: Project, Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
  • Understanding of modern vehicle body construction methods.
  • Educated to Degree level or higher in an engineering discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.

Behaviours:

Must be a clear communicator, with good organisation skills. Must be able to negotiate and arbitrate between PMT's and PAT's to achieve the best geometric solutions for the product.
