  • Job Description - Support Operative

  • Contract length - 6 months

  • Hours per week - 39 hours

  • Shift patterns - Monday - Thursday (08:00 - 16:30) Friday (08:00 - 15:30) - 30 minutes for lunch

  • Location - Dun Laoghaire

  • Department - Coastal Operations

  • Reporting To - DL & Buoy Supervisor


Overview of Role
The Support Operative (SO) will be responsible to the Buoy Supervisor for their role in the provision and maintenance and management of assets and other activity. The SO will operate as part of multidiscipline teams based in the Buoy Yard. The SO will work within their training, skills and competencies to deliver required work packages in an efficient and effective manner.


Accountabilities

  • Quality workmanship

  • Reliable, on time completion of work packages

  • Maintenance of positive environmental standards and procedures

  • Risk, safety and environmental management

  • Cross departmental liaison and cooperation


Essential Skills:

  • Experienced general worker with broad skills and capabilities

  • Good team working skills

  • Self-organising and reliable

  • Qualified forklift operator with valid certification.

  • Full, clean driving licence


Desirable Skills:

  • Experience of mobile plant operation - forklift, pallet truck, teleporter, crane

  • Experience of slinging or lifting operations

  • Basic mechanical and electrical skills

  • Holder of relevant CSCS cards for above skills

  • Experience of driving large van

  • Basic welding

  • Experience of stores operations

  • Experience of grit blasting, high pressure washing

  • Reasonable ICT skills
